ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

CLIFF NOTEZ makes music that is rooted in hip-hop, but expands through various styles. Named Best New Artist at the Boston Music Awards in 2018 and Musician of the Year by Boston Magazine the following year, he is a past member of the Folk Collective cohort at Passim.

AARON PERRINO is the frontman for the much-loved Boston band the Sheila Divine as well as its successor, Dear Leader. More recently, he has recorded as Aaron and the Lord with Steven Lord of the band Dirty Bangs.

RICK BERLIN has been a fixture on the Boston music scene since the early 1970s, when he founded the uncategorizable Orchestra Luna. He went on to form Berlin Airlift, a 1980s group that received considerable airplay from WBCN (“the Rock of Boston”), followed by various other projects. For the last 15 or so years this tireless showman has led the Nickel & Dime Band.

THEA HOPKINS was the Grand Prize Winner of the 22nd Great American Song Contest for “The Ghost of Emmett Till,” and her song “Jesus Is on the Wire” (about the murder of Matthew Shepard) was recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary in 2004. A member of the Aquinnah Wampanoag tribe of Martha’s Vineyard, she received a fellowship from the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation in 2017.

WILL DAILEY is a perennial honoree at the Boston Music Awards, a regular participant in the Hot Stove Cool Music benefit concerts (often alongside Eddie Vedder), and a past performer at several Farm Aid events. His latest album is “Boys Talking.”

CHAD STOKES is the frontman for the Boston-based bands Dispatch and State Radio and the co-founder, with his partner, Sybil Gallagher, of the social movement-building organization Calling All Crows. He is currently working on his forthcoming rock opera, “1972.”

Guest speaker CAROL ROSE is the executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts.
