ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

South Florida-based singer-guitarist VICTORIA CARDONA is a one-woman band, improvising her own rhythms with live looping performances. Her debut album, “Que Paso,” showcases her Cuban roots and blues chops with help from a veteran band including Bill Payne (Little Feat) and Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets). The album, released in mid-2025, reached the No. 1 spot on the Roots Music Report’s World Music chart.

THALIA ZEDEK has been an underground force in indie rock for decades. She was the founding member of the Boston bands Dangerous Birds and Uzi before becoming the lead vocalist for New York CIty’s Live Skull. She spent the 1990s leading the Boston group Come alongside Chris Brokaw (ex-Codeine). Since 2001 she has released more than a dozen recordings under her own name.

Cambridge-born, Vermont-based ALI McGUIRKs latest album, “Watertop,” follows the breakthrough of 2022’s “Til It’s Gone,” which was named one of the Top 50 Albums of the Year by the Boston Globe. “There’s a moral clarity to McGuirk’s conviction,” according to WBUR.

A native of Kyiv, Ukraine, YARYNA TSYMBAL is currently studying voice at Berklee College of Music. She combines the traditional folk and rock music of her homeland with jazz, pop, and R&B.

THE FUNTIME HOUR PLAYERS sound an awful lot like THE CAVEDOGS, the beloved power-pop band that formed in Ohio before settling in Boston in the mid-1980s. The group released a classic album, “Joy Rides for Shut-Ins,” in 1990. The follow-up, “Soul Martini,” was released on Enigma, a subsidiary of Capitol Records. The band broke up shortly thereafter but have since reunited on many occasions.

Guest speaker DANNY GOLDBERG has had a legendary career in the music business. He co-produced the “No Nukes” documentary and formed Gold Mountain Entertainment, with clients including Nirvana, Bonnie Raitt and the Allman Brothers. He served as president of Atlantic Records and CEO of Mercury Records Group and Warner Bros. Records. Goldberg is a past chairman of the ACLU of Southern California and has written several books, including “Bloody Crossroads 2020: Art, Entertainment and Resistance to Trump” and, most recently, “Liberals With Attitude: The Rodney King Beating and the Fight for the SOul of Los Angeles.”
